Enjoy learning the math equations! Knit fabric question...is there a specific name for or weight of the fabric used in the necklines of industrial t-shirts? Is it a light(ish) weight 1x1 rib?
It's typically the same weight at the t-shirt itself but in a 1x1 rib. So if the tee jersey is 7oz the rib is the same. Some designers will play around but the use of the same weight always comes down to costing and production.
This is sooo helpful, thank you! What do you recommend for hemming knits without a coverstitch machine? For a t-shirt I usually overlock the raw edge, fold up once, and then stitch with a twin needle on my regular machine to mimic a factory finish, but it often gives popped stitches.
I can't remember the name, but there's a new thread that stretches (no, not woolly nylon). It looks like normal thread, but has enough stretch for hems.
Also, check out the hem used by Jean Muir - it makes a lovely hem on a dressier knit, and doesn't roll like simpler knit hems.

Gutermann maraflex? I looked at it once but the colour range wasn't right for my project so not tried it yet.
Thanks!!
I loved the Stage Brief and now try to sew up a pair of these or other knicks as a palette cleanser between projects. As mentioned sooo satisfying!
I've been searching for a simple soft bra/bralette to match... Anyone found a good one?
Or might there be one coming down the line in 2025 from DJ maybe?! ;)
There are many bras on the horizon but the when is still up in the air 😅
So pleased! I've been quite disappointed with the few I've tried so far... Can't wait ✨
Totally! I've also used the Stage Brief as a palate cleanser :)
I have found wash-away stabilizer tape a game changer when hemming knits! Totally prevents that wavy result and looks so much better.
Thanks for all the good info. Actually sewing a knit right now as I also make a pair of pants, feeling validated ;)
The Stage Brief was so amazing to sew and they feel great to wear!
