Good luck with moving life to the east coast! My best friend and his partner recently bought a house either in Kingston or a town next to it (lost track bc they looked at lots of places) and he just adores that area.

Random side note inspired by your airport (?) photo, but have you seen the film Carpet Cowboys? I think you’d enjoy!

I live in a desert state, and I'm also not one for the heat. It can be brutal.

I really love that look of that vest top without sleeves. It's perfect. Closest thing I could find was the pipit vest pattern- long view. That isn't quite as sleek looking. It definitely has more bulk inevitably because it's fully lined, and longer style without adjusting.

Ohh, I can’t wait to start on a pair this weekend? So you added a pintuck to the front legs and kept the back seams on both legs?

yes, no change to the back except omitting the back vent but that really fell off in shortening!

Hi Gillian! What I did for light weight fabric, as a size 12 base, is sized up to a 18 which gave my hips about 7" of ease. You can size down if that's too much but what you're looking for is a step up in ease that works for you. Next I closed up the pocket bags the Adams has and made myself on seam pockets. You can of course just omit pocketing completely. Then I removed the back darts which at the size 18 gave me a new waist opening of 40 5/8". Since my hips are 42" I need more wiggle room so I opened the waist another 2 3/8", taking the waist to 43". I don't go straight up from the hip and use the elastic to just cinch it all because (a) I don't want that much ruching at my waist and (b) it lays flat over my hips as opposed to kicking and flaring. After that I created a new straight waistband and chopped the legs! Hope this helps!
