Last week kicked off Daughter Judy’s rebrand and spring capsule collection. Now that it’s out in the world for you all to enjoy too, there’s a ton to discuss about the patterns, rebrand and direction of Daughter Judy, so we’ll take it step by step as a discussion over the next few weeks. The rebrand and spring patterns have been part of a deadline I’ve been working with behind the scenes for a number of months now and I’m pretty excited to finally have the patterns living in the real world, not just in my head, or on a computer screen; now they are able to be made by anyone looking for effortless silhouettes this spring!

Patterns and clothes need time to marinate and find their niche in one’s wardrobe to really integrate into the alchemy that is style. Like the shop now! urgency, sometimes we feel an impulse to make now! [Don’t fall victim to the darker side of making!] While there is great inspiration in pursuing a make while the energy is high, I am a huge proponent of letting time be a factor in one’s clothing and personal development. With releasing a collection of patterns, I hope the silhouettes can properly steep in our home-sewing milieu and the richness of these garments will be enhanced with space for them to breathe.

Speaking of room to breathe, our spring theme is effortlessness, and to fully achieve this facile mood we must first work in an intentional way to understand the patterns, and how they relate to our individual styles and fit objectives. I hope that some of this month’s Lab will bring a bit more understanding to complex components of these patterns so that you can really lock into your mellow, go with the flow springtime archetype….
