Though I worked in the industry and alongside smaller brands in my past, Daughter Judy has taught me so much. There are tons of gifts that owning and operating your own business gives you (making your own schedule, seeing your passion come to life, deep engagement with like minded people…). Wearing so many multi-faceted hats at the same time can be exhausting but at moments like these when it’s on its way to all being worth it, I feel exhilarated and excited to see how these ventures unfold so they can be shared with you all too.
May and June have been busy to say the least. So many exciting things are happening over here at DJ HQ that I thought a little behind the scenes was in order. This month’s Lab will be a roundup of a few recent events, travels, and unique experiences from the last two months. Not exactly on theme for the Lab but a bit easier to write while we’re in a bit of a crunch mode period.
H+H Tradeshow, Chicago
In my internet exploration around Capital Fabric Supply I stumbled across H+H, a trade show for handmade business as they put it. As someone who has exhibited at trade shows in the past and knows there’s a show for literally everything, it didn’t dawn on me that there would be one for our little corner of the internet. I guess I think more about yarn shows like Sheep & Wool over thread fairs.
